White Cottage - restoration of 1920's house
White Cottage – restoration of 1920’s house
Services: Design and Project Management
White Cottage is a two-storey property built in the 1920’s. It was in a poor state of repair due to the lack of maintenance and modernisation over recent years. The client wanted to restore the existing fabric of the building as well as introduce a couple of extensions to help maximise the surroundings and sea view. We introduced a large two-storey extension, which met with the existing roof line. This helped to provide a generous living room at ground floor level and master bedroom on the first floor. Alterations within the original property and a reconfiguration of the internal layout helped to offer a spacious kitchen/dining area, whilst also providing and downstairs shower room and utility room. A single storey extension was also installed which looks over and accesses the garden space. This was designed a constructed to allow potential for a balcony on the roof. This can be accessed from the first-floor level.
ARID were involved throughout the project, from the initial design stage to completion of construction works which we managed on site using our skilled subcontractors.
